We're Famous!!!

OK, not us, exactly. Our house might be though. It will be in the 9/4/07 issue of The USA Today. There will be an article somewhere discussing the real estate slump. The paper called the president of the Board of Realtors and wanted a pic of an average house for sale in the area. He picked ours! Not sure what section or how big the article will be, but we are hoping for some increased interest and possibly a sale out of the deal. Everyone be on the lookout next Tuesday!

First Day of School! First Day of School!

No sunny front porch pictures for us.. no way in this weather. It downpoured all night and this morning, so we had to drive to the new house and stand in the garage to look for the school bus. However, aren't we lucky that it is supposed to be 95 degrees today in an un-airconditioned school?
Open house was last night, so the boys got to find their rooms and lockers, meet their teachers, and see a few old/new friends from baseball. Oh, and more importantly get free cookies in the cafeteria. I think everyone will be pretty adjusted after today. Except for
E, who couldn't quite understand why she wasn't getting on the bus too to go to her school, but she gets to go in a couple of weeks . ( Sept.7th). Two things to note in this picture. M's bottom two baby teeth are missing, but the old ones were in first, so I think we might be looking at some braces in a couple years. Also, behind the kids are the interior doors to the house. They should go in this week or next.
Here are some not so great pictures of the new floor in the front entry. They are bamboo, and if you look close you can see the bamboo markings. Pretty cool. They should be working on floors all the way through Sunday. Oh.. we have another second showing on this house Saturday Morning. Wish us luck.

Paint

The first coat of paint went on yesterday. The hardwood floors go down this week, then the cabinets and trim, then they will do a second coat of paint.
The door on the left is the kids bathroom, on the right is M's room.

Only 68 Hours until school starts.......

More Drywall...

This is the barrell ceiling in the wet bar, not a great shot, but you can kind of see the arc.
The view out of E's room to the cul-de-sac.
E by the master tub now that it's all drywalled in.
The backyard. We may find out soon if someone is building behind us.
Finish drywallers are done tomorrow, then things have to dry for a couple of days. The first coat of paint goes on Sunday or Monday, and the hardwood maybe starts next wednesday. Kitchen cabinets the following week if we are lucky.

We have someone going through the house tomorrow for a second showing... specifically to see the garage. Which means I have to clean out all of the stuff I have been hiding in there so that inside looks nice.. ( Little tykes toys, anyone? ) Please keep your fingers crossed for us!

Aunt Nicole Turns 30...

Suprise!!!!

OK... not officially until Friday, but we had a suprise party for her last Saturday at Bravo. She was mad at pretty much everyone there for making "excuses" as to why they couldn't do something on her real birthday, but once she realized what was up we had a good time.
Also important, but you can't see, E got her ears pierced on Saturday too. She cried for a minute, but now loves her "diamonds". Soo cute.

Musings...

Anyone wonder why we can't wait until the last day of school by the beginning of June..Yeah, no homework, no packing lunches, no volunteer hours, no bundling 3 kids up in frigid temperatures to drive them to school??

What was I thinking??

We are at 14 days and counting until we restart, and I don't think that there will be any tears from me as I watch the Schoolbus ( yeah! a school bus )pull away with the boys inside of it. We are bored bored bored.... this weather hasn't helped much. No pool due to the rain, no park due to the humidity. I was a bad mom and let the boys play video games for like 4 hours ( ok...5) so I could clean up the house for 2 showings we had Wednesday night. Then we had pizza... and ice cream... I won't win mom of the year award for that one. Today I was literally stretching out our errands..bank, builder, grocery store, storage unit ( not for the groceries), library as long as I could to prevent us from having to come home, and as we walk in with a basket full of books, they want the TV on, which I say no to, and they are BOOOOORED. Um, anyone try actually READING those things with pages we got from that neat building downtown? Just a suggestion.

Only 14 days...

Oh, as for the house, finish drywall makes for boring pictures, we haven't been out since monday. Things are plodding along nicely, except this humidity is a killer..

Drywall

So the drywall is roughed in as of today. The drywall finishers will start Monday and hopefully be done in two weeks, then on to paint and flooring. Above is the front enterance
This is the kitchen view and the doorway into the dining room, then the view out to the front of the house. That short angled wall there is where the stove will go.
The great room. We are anxious for someone to build behind us to kind of shield the backyard from the street, however until then the boys will have a great football field.

We also have sidewalks around the front curb and from the front door around the house to the garage. One of the workers backed his truck up to the still wet walk yesterday and made near perfect tread marks in the cement, however as of today it was fixed.

School starts August 23rd. Still no bites on the current house yet, so I will be driving everyone to the bus stop on the cul-de-sac for the first month or two until we get moved in. Originally I was hoping that we would be in an apartment in the new school district on a bus route. This real estate market had other plans, I guess. E will also start pre-school ( pre-school? Wasn't she just born?) so I will get 2 hours twice a week to myself. Whatever will I do with all that time?
